Flexible heater substrates are made of thin, flexible silicone rubber and fiberglass fabric composite materials. These substrates are UL rated, thermally stable, highly conformable and customizable. ARLON flexible heater substrates have earned their reputation for reliable operation and long life in both wire bound and etched foil heater applications.

Features

  • UL-recognized relative thermal index (RTI) ratings up to 220°C
  • Thermally stable to 232°C (450°F) continuous operation; up to 316°C (600°F) intermittent
  • Horizontal burn rated (UL 94 HB) and vertical burn rated (UL 94 V-0)
  • High dielectric strength, withstands 400 to 600 volts per mil of thickness

Benefits

  • Resists corona and arc-tracking damage
  • Environmentally stable- resistant to ozone, moisture and environmental chemicals
  • Bondable to most wire, foil and metals with primers
  • Easy to fabricate and highly customizable

The Arlon®raPId™ polyimide substrates are comprised of a revolutionary new construction that incorporates the benefits of polyimide heater dielectrics with the flexibility and usability of a silicone adhesive system. It is ideal for use in polyimide flexible heaters, analytical test equipment with chemical-resistant heaters, outdoor electronics requiring cold weather operation, aerospace and medical equipment applications.

Features

  • Operates between -50°C to 232°C (-58°F to 450°F)
  • Dielectric strength of 9.5 kV
  • Flame rating of UL HB with UL relative temperature index (RTI) of 150°C (302°F)
  • Ply adhesion of 1050 N/mm (6.0 lbf/in)

Benefits

  • Cure cycle time is under 20 minutes
  • Press cure temperatures as low as 121°C (302°F)
  • Formulated to eliminate voids, blisters and bubbles with low/no pick off
  • Superior thermoset bonding properties with no circuit swimming and very low outgassing
  • Available in both generic polyimide and Kapton® brand polyimide
